Gazprom says pumping across Ukraine falls by 40% on Friday

MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- The confirmed amount of Russian gas shipments to Europe across Ukraine decreased by 40% from the start of January to 24.4 million cubic meters on Friday, Gazprom said in a statement.

"Gazprom transits Russian gas across the territory of Ukraine at the amount confirmed by the Ukrainian side at the Sudzha metering station at 24.4 million cubic meters as of January 20. The application for the Sokhranovka metering station was declined," spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said as cited by the company.

In May, Ukraine stopped transit of Russian gas via the Sokhranovka station saying it is located on the territory controlled by Russians leaving the Sudzha station the only entry point. Gazprom said then that the entire flow cannot technically be shifted to Sudzha.
